01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
At matcha trip, the appeal lies in taking time to taste how tea differs with its region of origin and production method across Japan. Tasting sets are at the heart of the menu. Matcha Comparison samples matcha from five representative regions, while Sencha Compairison offers small servings of six teas: sencha, deep-steamed tea, kabusecha, gyokuro, genmaicha and hojicha. Together, the sets offer a structured way to explore the differences between tea leaves.
A range of flavours in latte form
Latte Comparison brings together three drinks at once: matcha latte, a layered matcha latte and hojicha latte. There is also 6 Latte Compairison, a set for comparing six kinds of latte. Alongside regular milk, oat milk is available as a substitute, letting you tailor a drink to your preference. For tea without milk, individual options include Matcha Ousucha, a thin matcha tea available in more than 10 varieties, and the fragrant Gyokuro Shizuku.
Baked treats and desserts to bring out the tea
To accompany a drink, there are house-made Matcha Chocolate Cakes, Matcha Muffin with the richness of matcha, and vegan matcha and hojicha cookies. For something cool, matcha or hojicha ice cream is another option.
Before you go
The shop is on the second floor of a hotel in Kotobuki, Taito City, where the quiet setting offers a chance to settle in and focus on the tea. It is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 to 16:00. Experiences such as workshops on how to prepare tea can be attended by advance reservation.
